Junior Lotus Racing had a tough time in the second race of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series weekend at the Hungaroring.
Panciatici qualified 13th and Move 17th. Both made a little bit of ground on the opening lap and, after the mandatory pit-stops, they were not too far away from the points-scoring top-10 positions. Unfortunately, Panciatici lost a couple of positions late in the race, although Move was very close to his team-mate by the finish. Junior Lotus Racing team manager Peter Crolla said: “Our pace on the conventional downforce setting we were able to run today was good during Friday’s test. But when it came to this morning’s qualifying we were disappointed to be not as strong as we had hoped. “In the race, Nelson pitted as soon as the pit window opened, while Daniil came in a couple of laps later. Both stops went very well." “Daniil was very close to Nelson’s pace, so that was very positive after the tough time he has had recently. It was quite an exciting race to watch, with Nelson under attack for a lot of the race.” The race was halted a couple of laps early due to an incident, leaving Junior Lotus Racing to reflect on its highlight from yesterday’s race. “To get a good result yesterday was a positive element to the weekend,” said Crolla. “We were disappointed not to get points today, but we lost those places and then the race was shortened by a few minutes.” There is now a long gap in the calendar for the World Series by Renault, of which Formula Renault 3.5 is the headline act, before the final three race weekends are kicked off by the series’ first visit to Hockenheim in Germany on September 4/5. “It gives us time to prepare extensively for the next race, so we’re looking forward to going to a new and prestigious venue and getting some strong results,” said Crolla.

Frenchman Nelson Panciatici followed up his fifth place in Saturday’s race with 12th position this time, while Russian team-mate Daniil Move had a morale boost after non-finishing yesterday to take 14th place in race two.
